The Ferrari F50 just set a new world auction record. Here is what that means for the Ferrari in your driveway

Saturday night at the Wynn Las Vegas, a 1997 Ferrari F50 with 106 miles sold at Broad Arrow for $18,705,000. The hammer was $17 million. The buyer’s premium carried it to the final number. That result is the new public-auction record for the F50, 28.3 percent above the previous high of $14,575,000 set at Mecum Monterey in August.

The F50 was not alone. A 2025 Ferrari Daytona SP3 Tailor Made with 81 miles brought $18.54 million. A 2014 LaFerrari sold for $8.805 million, a new high for a standard LaFerrari coupe. A 2003 Enzo took $6.55 million. The 84-lot sale totaled $92.8 million at a 76 percent sell-through rate. Ferrari alone made up about 73 percent of the money.

Why this matters even if the car is not an F50

Exotic Auto buys modern production Ferraris. 2013 and up, under 40,000 miles, clean title, verified miles, documented service. 488, 812, F8 Tributo, Portofino and Portofino M, Roma, 296 GTB, SF90 Stradale, GTC4Lusso. The halo cars at the top of the market set the ceiling. The ceiling pulls up every tier underneath.

A dealer sitting in Ewing on a Monday morning after a sale like Saturday’s is not casually watching. The buyers for a 488 Spider in the right color with the right options and the right history are the same buyers who got outbid on something at Wynn. They move down a tier. They pay for the right example. That is how a record night in Vegas turns into real money on a car in a driveway in New Jersey.

What Exotic Auto looks at on a modern Ferrari

Six things, in this order, before an offer gets written:

  • Year, model, trim and build. A 488 GTB and a 488 Pista are the same car in model year on paper and two different cars in the market. Same for an F8 Tributo versus an F8 Spider, a GTC4Lusso versus a GTC4Lusso T, a Roma versus a Roma Spider, a 296 GTB versus a 296 GTS.
  • Miles. The ladder matters: under 5,000, under 10,000, under 20,000, under 40,000. Every rung costs real money.
  • Color and interior. Rosso Corsa and Nero are the baseline. Giallo Modena, Blu Tour de France, Grigio Silverstone, Bianco Avus, Argento Nurburgring, Verde British Racing all read differently to a buyer. Carbon fiber racing seats, Daytona seats, Alcantara headliner, carbon packs all show up in the offer.
  • Service history. Annual service stamps, major service current, any extended Power warranty still active. A clean Classiche or a current Ferrari Approved certificate changes the number.
  • Accident, paint and title. Carfax and AutoCheck are the first check. A paint meter walks the body. Clean title, no reported accident, no undisclosed paint. If a panel has been painted, say so up front; it gets priced honestly instead of discovered at pickup.
  • Options. The window sticker still matters a decade later. Lift, racing seats, Scuderia shields, Apple CarPlay, HELE on an earlier car, forged wheels, titanium exhaust, carbon ceramic ladder. Every option shows up when the car gets priced.

The offer is written against those six, not against a generic book value.

The two things most sellers miss

First, timing. A 488 Spider in May is not the same car as a 488 Spider in November. A GTC4Lusso at tax time is not the same car as the same GTC4Lusso in July. A record night in Vegas tightens the window on the top of the Ferrari ladder for the next few weeks. If the plan was “sell sometime this winter,” this week is better than next month.

Second, condition. Pictures do not sell a Ferrari. A clean body, a clean engine bay, a clean undertray and a clean set of wheels sell a Ferrari. A detailed car photographs better, inspects better, and gets a cleaner offer.

How Exotic Auto buys

Based in Ewing, New Jersey. Buys Ferraris nationwide. Enclosed transport from the owner’s driveway, no one asks the seller to drive the car. Payoff on a loan or lease, title and registration work, out-of-state titles, estate and trust titles are all handled by the store. The lender is paid if there is one, the owner is paid the difference, and an enclosed truck comes to the driveway.

Just sold my Bentaga and the process was super easy. We spoke on phone where Hasan made a verbal offer. We went back and forth for a few minutes and agreed that if the car was in condition as described then they will be willing to meet my price.Upon arriving, of course they did they part in attempting to give a lower price but after no more than 30 mins we settled at the previously agreed price. Paperwork took less than 20 mins and was on my way. They also covered my Uber ride back home.Would definitely utilize them in the future.

I had an excellent experience selling my 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo to Exotic Auto. My offer came lightning fast and all the following steps were fast and clear. Everything worked smoothly and comfortably. Here's the process we followed (1) Transporter showed up and sent images back to Exotic Auto (2) EA did an immediate wire transfer and (3) the Transporter drove away. There was some paperwork around all this, but it was clear, easy, and reasonable. I'm very pleased with the experience.Of course I had a beautiful, clean car to sell.

The professionalism of Hasan and team is to be commended; it was straightforward to get a confirmed price, arrange pickup of the vehicle and associated title transfer and such. I will be doing much more business with this firm going forward and I highly recommend them.
