A Rolls-Royce is a different sale than a Ferrari. The buyer is different, the spec matters more, and the paperwork is heavier. Exotic Auto buys Rolls-Royces from private owners nationwide: Cullinan, Ghost, Wraith, Dawn, Phantom, and the Black Badge versions of each. Late-model, under 40,000 miles, paid for from Ewing, New Jersey.
Here is what the appraiser checks.
Model, year, and Black Badge
A 2020 Cullinan and a 2022 Cullinan Black Badge are not the same number. A Ghost Series II is a different band from the 2021-on Ghost. A Wraith Black Badge is the car most buyers ask for by name. The first thing confirmed is the exact model, model year, and whether it is a Black Badge car. The Rolls-Royce build sheet or the window sticker is the fastest route to the right number.
Spec, because on a Rolls-Royce it is most of the value
The Bespoke program is where Rolls-Royce money lives. Starlight Headliner, Bespoke two-tone paint, coachline, picnic tables, rear theatre, the Shooting Star headliner, lambswool mats, a Bespoke audio system, and commissioned interior colors all move the number. A base-spec Ghost and a fully Bespoke Ghost from the same year can be tens of thousands of dollars apart at retail. The appraiser wants the full option list and photos of the interior.
Miles
Under 40,000 miles is where Exotic Auto buys. Under 15,000 is where the best offers are. Rolls-Royce buyers want a car that looks and smells new, so miles matter even more here than on a sports car.
Condition inside
The cabin is the car. The appraiser looks at the leather on the driver’s bolster and the rear seats, the wood veneer for cracks and sun fade, the headliner, the carpet under the mats, the condition of the umbrella and its housing, and whether every Bespoke piece is present and working. A cabin with no wear is the top of the band.
Service history and the known items
Dealer service with receipts gets the top number. The appraiser asks about air suspension behavior, the condition of the rear coach doors and their soft-close motors, the infotainment system, and on a Dawn, the convertible top and its seals. On a Cullinan, tire wear on the 22-inch wheels and brake condition matter because both are expensive to put right.
Paint and wheels
Every panel gets a paint-depth gauge. Two-tone Bespoke paint is checked panel by panel. Wheels are checked for curb damage; refinished Rolls-Royce wheels are a line item the appraiser will price honestly.
Title and payoff
Clean title only. A loan or lease buyout is fine. Exotic Auto pays the lender directly and pays the owner the difference. The owner does not pay the car off first.
How the sale works
1. Send the year, model, miles, exterior and interior colors, and a few photos to the Rolls-Royce page or call.
2. Exotic Auto returns a number built from live auction results, current private asks, and what the car retails for.
3. If it works, the paperwork goes out, the lender is paid if there is one, the owner is paid, and an enclosed truck comes to the driveway.
What Exotic Auto does not buy
Salvage or rebuilt titles. Cars over 40,000 miles. Cars with undisclosed accident repair.
