McLarens change hands faster than almost any other exotic, and the market for them moves faster too. Exotic Auto buys McLarens from private owners nationwide: 570S, 570GT, 600LT, 620R, 720S, 765LT, Artura, GT, and the Spider versions of each. Late-model, under 40,000 miles, paid for from Ewing, New Jersey.
Here is what sets the number.
Model, year, and body
A 720S coupe and a 720S Spider sell to different buyers. A 765LT is a different band from a 720S Performance. A 600LT is a different band from a 570S. The first thing the appraiser confirms is the exact model, the model year, and whether it is a coupe or a Spider. The McLaren build sheet, or the window sticker, is the fastest way to get this right.
Miles and how the car was used
Under 40,000 miles is the limit. Under 10,000 gets the best offer. The appraiser also looks at how the miles were put on: tire wear and date codes, brake pad and rotor condition, front splitter and underside scuffs, and whether the car has been tracked. A tracked 765LT is still a 765LT, but it gets a different number and the appraiser will say why.
Service and the known items
McLaren buyers ask about the service file first. Dealer or known specialist, with receipts, gets the top of the band. The appraiser also asks about the items that come up on these cars: hydraulic suspension leaks, the folding roof mechanism on Spiders, the infotainment screen on 2015 to 2018 cars, door strut and latch behavior, and whether the carbon-ceramic rotors have been measured. A car with these documented and sorted is easier to price high.
Paint, film, and carbon
Every panel gets a paint-depth gauge. McLaren paint protection film from new is a plus. Exposed carbon fiber roof, hood, splitter, diffuser, and sills move the number up when they are factory and undamaged. MSO colors and MSO Defined options carry a premium on the right car. A respray on a bumper is normal; a repainted quarter panel changes the conversation.
Title and payoff
Clean title only. A loan or lease buyout is fine. Exotic Auto gets the payoff, pays the lender, and pays the owner the difference. The owner does not pay the car off first.
How the sale works
1. Send the year, model, miles, color, and a few photos to the McLaren page or call.
2. Exotic Auto returns a number built from live auction results, current private asks, and what the car retails for.
3. If it works, the paperwork goes out, the lender is paid if there is one, the owner is paid, and an enclosed truck comes to the driveway.
Most McLaren sales close inside a week.
What Exotic Auto does not buy
Salvage or rebuilt titles. Cars over 40,000 miles. Cars with undisclosed accident repair. Cars with aftermarket engine tunes that cannot be returned to stock.
