Exotic Auto buys Ferraris from private owners nationwide and pays for them from Ewing, New Jersey. 458, 488, F8, Roma, Portofino, California T, GTC4Lusso, 812, SF90, 296. Late-model cars, under 40,000 miles, from owners who want one number and a pickup date instead of a month of strangers.
This is what the appraiser looks at, in the order it matters.
The model and the year
A 2016 488 GTB and a 2019 488 Pista are not the same conversation. A 2020 F8 Tributo and a 2021 F8 Spider sell to different buyers. The first check is the exact model, the model year, and whether the car is a coupe or a spider. Ferrari option sheets run long, so the build sheet or the window sticker goes a long way toward getting the number right the first time.
Miles
Under 40,000 miles is where Exotic Auto buys. Under 10,000 is where the best offers live. A 458 Italia with 6,000 miles and a 458 with 32,000 miles are both good cars, but they land in different bands and sell to different people.
Service history
Ferrari buyers ask one question before anything else: when was the last annual service, and who did it. A car with every service at a Ferrari dealer or a known specialist, with receipts, gets the top of the band. A car with a gap gets an honest number and an explanation of why.
On older cars, the appraiser asks about the sticky interior buttons, the F1 clutch wear reading on a 360 or F430, and whether the carbon-ceramic brakes have been measured. On newer cars, it is the battery tender habit and whether the car has ever thrown a warning light that was cleared and not fixed.
Paint and bodywork
Every car gets a paint-depth gauge on every panel. A front bumper respray is normal on a car that has been driven. A repainted door or quarter panel is a different conversation, and the appraiser will say what it found and what it does to the number. Factory paint protection film is a plus. Wrap over unknown paint is a question.
Color and spec
Rosso Corsa and Nero are the volume colors. Grigio Silverstone, Blu Tour de France, Giallo Modena, Rosso Fiorano, and anything from the Tailor Made program carry a premium on the right model. Carbon fiber in the cabin, the racing seats, the lifter, the Scuderia shields, and the JBL or Hi-Fi system all move the number. The appraiser wants the option list.
Title and payoff
A clean title is required. A loan is fine. Exotic Auto gets a payoff letter from the lender, pays the lender directly, and pays the owner the difference. The owner does not pay the car off first.
How the sale works
1. Send the year, model, miles, color, and a few photos to the Ferrari page or call.
2. Exotic Auto comes back with a number built from live auction results, current private asks, and what the car retails for.
3. If the number works, Exotic Auto sends the paperwork, pays the lender if there is one, pays the owner, and sends an enclosed truck to the driveway. The owner does not trailer the car anywhere.
Most sales close inside a week from the first message.
What Exotic Auto does not buy
Cars with a salvage or rebuilt title. Cars with more than 40,000 miles. Older California models. Cars with undisclosed accident repair.
